Productivity Writing Cleanup

Clear updates, decisions, docs, and asks in fewer words.

Prompts for everyday operator writing: status updates, decision memos, async asks, and meeting notes. The goal is not fancy prose; it is writing that names the actor, action, owner, deadline, and risk without filler.

Status Update Stop Slop Pass

by Hardik Pandyalast month
Async Updates
Rewrite this status update with Stop Slop rules and operator clarity. Cut filler, passive voice, vague progress language, rhetorical setup, and performative confidence. Name the owner, action, current state, blocker, risk, and next checkpoint. Keep it concise, direct, and human. No em dashes.

Return:
1. Revised update
2. One-line executive summary
3. Open questions or risks that still need an owner

UPDATE:
[paste status update]

tip · Use for Slack, email, Linear updates, and weekly reports when the draft has too much 'progress is being made' language.

Decision Memo Cleanup

by Hardik Pandyalast month
Decision Memos
Edit this decision memo so a busy operator can decide fast. Apply Stop Slop: remove throat-clearing, negative listing, binary contrast theater, passive voice, abstract nouns doing actions, and vague importance claims. Preserve the decision, options, tradeoffs, evidence, owner, deadline, and rollback plan. Convert distant narration into direct statements about who does what.

Return:
1. Revised memo
2. Decision, owner, deadline, and rollback plan as four bullets
3. Claims that need evidence

MEMO:
[paste memo]

tip · Good for replacing long 'context' sections with what changed, who decides, and what happens next.

Async Ask That Gets Answered

by Hardik Pandyalast month
Requests
Rewrite this async request so the recipient can answer without a meeting. Use Stop Slop rules: cut throat-clearing, hedges, adverbs, passive voice, vague stakes, and meta-commentary. Put the ask in the first two sentences. Include context only if it changes the answer. Name the requested action, deadline, default if no response, and links or evidence needed.

Return the revised request plus a checklist showing Ask, Owner, Deadline, Default, Context, Links.

tip · Use before sending cross-functional asks where polite buildup hides the actual decision.
